🌿 She Who Is Great: Awakening the Abundance of Maia Maiestas 🌿
By Diadharma – 26 April 2026
Welcome back to the circle. As we stand on the threshold of May, the world is quite literally stretching its limbs. The buds are swelling, the days are lengthening, and there is a palpable sense of more in the air. It is only fitting, then, that this month is named for a goddess whose very essence is the act of expansion: Maia Maiestas.
The Goddess of Increase
Maia Maiestas—whose name translates beautifully to "She Who Is Great"—is an ancient Roman deity of growth and abundance. Often associated with the goddess Fauna and the earth-mother Ops, she was the wife of Vulcan, the god of fire. It was said that her power was the heat of the sun that warmed the soil, coaxing the life within to rise.
In later Roman tradition, she was known as Bona Dea, the "Good Goddess." She represents the "Increase"—the moment a seed becomes a sprout, or a dream becomes a reality. She is the energy of the plateau turning into a peak.

The Myth of Limitation
But as I sit with the energy of Maia this month, I find myself reflecting on a strange paradox in our modern world. We are often taught to be wary of "increase." We are told that asking for more is greedy, or that being satisfied with "just enough" is a sign of spiritual maturity.
We are fed the idea that abundance is somehow not sacred, or that there is a finite amount of success, love, or wealth that we must be careful not to take too much of.
But here is the secret that Maia whispers through the blossoming trees: Spirit does not believe in limitation. Limitation is a construct of the linear, material world—a world of fences, borders, and budgets. In the spiritual realm, the "Increase" is the natural state of being. The universe doesn't calculate if it has enough energy to grow another flower; it simply grows.

Welcoming the Increase
How can we draw the energy of Maia Maiestas into our lives right now? It begins with reclaiming the sacredness of our own desires.
- Identify the "Increase": Where in your life are you holding back because you feel you shouldn't ask for more? Is it in your creative work, your relationships, or your sense of peace?
- Acknowledge the Source: Recognize that your desire for abundance isn't a "flaw" of the ego, but the spark of the divine wanting to express itself more fully through you.
- Release the Lack: When you feel the fear of "not enough" creeping in, remember the Goddess of May. She reminds us that abundance is our birthright.
As we move through this vibrant month, I invite you to look at the world through the eyes of Maia. Notice the boundless abundance of the spring. The earth isn't apologizing for its vibrant green or its sprawling vines. Neither should you.
It is okay to be Great. It is sacred to increase.
